My family loves Thanksgiving!!! I love Thanksgiving.
Do I love the cooking part? I am going to be honest here and tell you...#notsomuch
But that is okay because is what I do love it my family and my husband. He loves the traditional Thanksgiving dinner and I adore him. So I cook.
My family is hilarious and loud and fun!
And we have a lot to be thankful for this year.
Yep, it has been a hard year for all of us. All we have to say is COVID and I don't know about you...but I am COVID weary. Yes, I got it. Yes, I wore a mask and washed my hands and did all of the things suggested and I still got it. It wasn't the sickest I have ever been but I was sick. In fact I still haven't completely regained my energy. And then we had the tragic loss of our oldest son who took his life after suffering with war related PTSD for many years.
And yet...we have a lot to be thankful for. I have seen my family pull together through the hardest of times. I have watched my younger sons and their wives gather themselves together and surround my widowed daughter-in-law with love and support. I have watched my grandson become a strong man who has done what needed to be done in the wake of his father's death. I have watched my eight year old granddaughter still be able to smile.
So this year as we gather together and we will gather we will have an empty place at our table. But we will laugh, we will cry, it will be loud! We will hug a little harder and a little longer. We will eat too much and we will eat some more.
And my husband and I will fall into bed exhausted and thankful.
